Cappadocia's defining experience is the sunrise hot-air balloon flight over its eroded volcanic 'fairy chimney' landscape — offered almost daily for the best visibility, around 1 hour, with over 100 balloons airborne simultaneously on peak days. It's one of only a handful of truly iconic hot-air-balloon locations worldwide (alongside Bagan, Serengeti, Napa Valley, Luxor, and Château-d'Œx). Beyond ballooning, the region's underground cities and rock-cut cave churches complete its otherworldly character.
