About Cusco, Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu
Cusco works as a hub for the whole region — but unlike a purely logistical hub, it's a rich destination in its own right: colonial architecture built directly over Inca stone foundations, lively markets, and one of Peru's best food scenes. The Sacred Valley connects traditional Andean villages with Inca agricultural terraces still farmed today. Machu Picchu remains the high point, accessible only by train to Aguas Calientes followed by a bus, or on foot via the Inca Trail.
