About Jungfrau Region (Interlaken/Grindelwald/Wengen)
The Jungfrau region groups the resort villages of Grindelwald and Wengen around the hub town of Interlaken, itself wedged between two lakes. It centers on three legendary peaks — the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau — and the Jungfraubahn railway climbing to Jungfraujoch, 'Top of Europe', the highest railway station in Europe. Unlike Zermatt's split into two nearly disjoint seasons, winter (moderate skiing) and summer (intense hiking) are equally strong reasons to visit here. Commonly visited over 4-6 days.
